Original home built PC system
This is the original PDP-11/40 home built 'system'.
It is a homebrew chassis that houses a complete PC built with the following components.
486DX2/66 PC motherboard
PC-AT 200 Watt power supply
1,2 Gb hard disk drive
3½" floppy disk drive
several interface cards (multi-I/O, video, network, etc.)
The front is made of an aluminium frame with a dark-red plexiglass bezel. Behind the bezel is an aluminium plate on
which the LEDs and the switches are mounted.
By the way, the dimensions of the front are just 36 cm long and 16 cm high. The front is a copy of the console the
real PDP-11/35 that I run at home. Here are a few more photographs of this original design.
<-- top view You can see the power supply and the floppy drive at the right side.
At the left side are the expansion boards.
top/rear view --> Frome here you can see the expansion boards.
Above the expansion boards on this photo you see the flatcable from the LPT port to the kludge with
the resistors and 2 transistors to the DATA LEDs.
